Funeral:  July 19, 2010, 10:00 a.m., St. George's Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Dauphin MB
Obituary:
John Bayduza
John Bayduza was born January 2, 1914 at Sifton, MB to parents Tom and Nellie Bayduza (nee Stadnyk). He was the 8th of 11 children.
He grew up on the family homestead North West of Sifton and went to school until Grade 5 at the Oukrainia School. He farmed there until 1948 at which time he purchased land at Fork River and that became his home.
On June 3, 1961 John married Alice Dykun and they moved to a parcel of land which they purchased 2 miles east of Fork River. They were blessed with two children Audrey and David.
John’s passions were his family and his farm. Virtually every Sunday the family would go visit one of his numerous brothers and sisters whom he loved dearly.
John got married late in life and always said that “he hoped that he lived long enough to have at least one grandchild.” He was so proud the day T.J. his first grandson was born and was blessed with seven more grandkids after that. His grandkids became his life and to them he was affectionally known as “Pops.” He attended every possible function he could when it came to his grandkids. It became a real dilemma when there were three hockey games, a dance recital and a piano recital all on the same day involving different kids, but somehow he managed to figure out a way to attend them all.
He also loved his farm. He would go out daily to check his crops and cattle and even upon retireing to Dauphin in 1989 he still made daily trips out to the farm, rain or shine, to help David or Ron or just to check the crops. His favourite season was harvest and he came out to the farm to combine or swath until he was 85 years old.
John was always actively involved in the community, serving on numerous organizations such at the Fork River Curling Club, Fork River Community Hall, Manitoba Pool Elevators, National Farmers Union, Fork River 4-H Club Leader and a member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Winnipegosis and Dauphin.
John was predeceased by his parents, brothers Bill and wife Mary, Jim and wife Elsie, Jack, Steve and Michael, sisters Lucy and husband Mike Kotz, Mary and husband Bill Tisnohuz, Ann and husband Glen Cameron, Pearl and husband Peter Podruski, mother-in-law Annie Dykun, sister-in-law Ruth Dykun and brother-in-law Mike Shymko.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years Alice, daughter Audrey and husband Ron Warkentin, son David and wife Angie, grandchildren T.J., Allyson, Terrilyn and Joel Warkentin, Matthew, Kara, Kristen and Andrew Bayduza, sister Elsie Shymko, sister-in-law Liz Bayduza, brother-in-law Joe Dykun, sister-in-law Mary and Ernie Michaleski, and sister-in-law Sylvia and Rev. Jakiw Rybalka, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
