Federowich Joe
Date of birth:  September 27, 1953
Died:  September 9, 2009
Send Condolence
Prayers:  No Prayer Service
Funeral:  September 15, 2009, 1:30pm, Dauphin First United Church
Obituary:
On September 9th we had to say goodbye to an amazing man. Someone who was endlessly loved as a husband, father, gedo, brother, uncle and friend, Joe Federowich (Joey).

Joe Edward Federowich will be forever in the hearts of his wife of 36 years, Delores and their two children Chris, Tricia (Curtis), and three grandchildren, Kadence, Teya and Braxton. Also left to mourn his loss is his mother Sophie, his sister Amy (John), their children Carrie (Adam) and their daughter Addie, Janine (Jonah) and their daughter True, brother-in-law Dean Hrychuk (Chrystal) and their son Tyler and daughter Jayden (god-daughter). As well as extended family and numerous friends. Joey was predeceased by his father Eddy and infant brother Ken.

Joey was born in Dauphin, Manitoba on September 27th, 1953. He lived on the family farm near Ashville his entire life. He occasionally attended school in Clearview when he wasn’t busy hiding in bushes! He attended high school in Gilbert Plains where he met the love of his life; Delores Hrychuk.

On September 30th, 1972 Joey and his Delores were married in Dauphin. Within a few years their family grew by two, a daughter Tricia and then a son, Chris. Joey’s passion for farming began as soon as he could walk and talk. He and Delores farmed with his dad on about 1500 acres. Soon because of Joey’s ingenuity, the farm began to grow. With the influence of Delores and their son Chris, more cattle came to the farm. Joe preferred the grain side to farming but agreed to take the cattle on. In the end, cattle prices dropped, the cows were sold. Joe won again!

No one will ever accuse Joe of not living his life to the fullest. He insisted on enjoying every single minute with those he loved most. If you were lucky to be a part of his adventurous ideas, you could expect travelling to Mexico, taking a once in a lifetime fishing trip, watch him purchase his dream car; a Dodge Challenger, skydiving, or taking crazy expeditions on the latest sled! This last point contributed to him being the bionic man and his many metal parts. He even started a family tradition by getting a tattoo detailing the loves of his life, his family. His children have followed through with this so now it’s Delores turn.

Joe’s unique interests in alternative crops led him down many diverse paths. He was instrumental in bringing hemp production to Canada; at times this was much to Delores’ chagrin. With such entrepreneurial decisions, the Federowich Farm became an agricultural leader in Manitoba, winning such awards as “Farm Family of the Year 2008 and Conservation Farm Family 1998.” Joe was a man who never feared an unconventional decision, and this is his legacy.

“Remember, it’s not goodbye, it’s till we meet again.”

Funeral service for Joe was held on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 from the Dauphin First United Church with the Rev. Karen Kuzek officiating.
