Dennis Haggarty of Dauphin, Manitoba passed away on December 6, 2009 at the age of 86 years.
Dennis was born in Bowsman, Manitoba on July 10, 1923 to Adam and Mable (nee Gunter) Haggarty.
In 1941, he moved to Flin Flon, Manitoba to work at the Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting Company. His career spanned forty years during which time he met and married Emily Law in 1942. They made Flin Flon their home for the next 46 years where they raised three children.

“Food on the table, a roof over your head and good health” was his motto. We will all have wonderful memories of spending time with Dad at the “lake” enjoying nature.

| Obituary: |
It is with great sorrow that the family of John Hamelin of Ste. Rose du Lac announce his passing on September 23, 2009.
John was born on May 21, 1943 at Ste. Rose du Lac to Victor and Louise (Neault) Hamelin. He attended school at Ste Rose and continued to live there for his entire life. In his teenage and early adult years, John was a member of a band called “Spyers Lites.” They played throughout communities in what is now known as the Parkland. He enjoyed music and loved to play guitar. A fond memory that many family members have of John is him tuning up his guitar to the theme song from “Bonanza”
John was very talented in wood working. He had a shop built on to his house and could always be found building something for one of his family members, whether it be lawn furniture, outside Christmas or Halloween decorations, or car or truck toys for the children.
John worked for MTS and travelled throughout Manitoba. He enjoyed his job, but never liked to be away from home.
“Uncle Johnny” greatly loved all his nieces and nephews. He loved to watch them play, and grow, and marry, and have families, and then continue to do the same with their families. He was one of the most patient people there was.
In later years John spent most of his time as a caregiver. He cared for his mother when she was sick until she went into the nursing home, and when she was there visited her every day, until she passed in 2003. He later became a caregiver to his brother Joe and also cared for him until he went into the nursing home and visited him daily until his passing in 2008. John’s patience and kindness was greatly admired by the staff at the nursing home.
John was predeceased by parents Victor and Louise Hamelin, brother Joseph Hamelin, brothers-in-law Gordon Bishop and Ken Glover, nephew Davey Glover, and nephew-in-law Steve Bogoslowski.
Left to mourn John’s passing are his sisters Jeannine Bishop of Ste Rose du Lac, Anita Glover of McCreary and Lucille Duggan of Dauphin. Nieces and nephews Peggy Delaurier, Gordon (Rosy) Bishop, Debby Bishop, Pam Bishop, Lisa (Gilles) Bishop, Vicki Bishop, Anne (Raymond) Leepart, Bill (Valerie) Glover, Gail (Raymond) Poncsak, Jim Glover, Rick (Donna) Duggan, Jim Duggan.
Great nieces and nephews Christine (Joel) Lafond, Teresa (Corey) Wendland, Brian (Tina) Kauste, Tom (Cher) Delaurier, Kelly Delaurier, Jamey (Ashley) Bishop, Shawn (Courtney) Bishop, Pvt. Justin “Joey” Crutch, Jessica Bishop, Justine Ferland, Noah Ferland, Tracy (Gary) Rossnagel, Kenneth (Sandy) Glover, Steven (Christine) Glover, Mano (Tammy) Glover, Jennifer Glover, Billy Glover, April Smith, Michael Smith, Stanley Glover, Kyle Duggan, Carly Duggan.
Great-great nieces and nephews Carly, Olivia, Rainey, Sabrina, Halan, Ethyn, Elijah, Ethan, David, Amalie, Kaylie, Robert, Jaydyn, Sarah, Jesse, Wyatt, Matt, Harley, Kalynn and Amber.
A memorial service was held on September 28, 2009 from the Ste. Rose Community Centre in Ste. Rose du Lac, MB with Mrs. Brenda Puchailo officiating and Anita Glover was the urnbearer. All of John’s nieces and nephews were to consider themselves as honorary pallbearers. The service concluded at the hall with the interment taking place in the Ste. Rose Cemetery at a later date.
If friends so desire donations may be made in memory of John to the Kidney Foundation or Canadian Diabetes Association.
