Raymond Kaduchuk – better known as Uncle Raymond by his sisters.
Life is now forever changed. The extended family of Raymond Kaduchuk is deeply saddened at his passing. Raymond passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Health Sciences Centre in the early morning of Tuesday, June 29th, 2010.
Reflections:
Raymond’s full and active life that “touched” so many people has emblazoned strong images for us all.
Raymond was very proud to announce that he was a Dad when his daughter Kayleen was born. As well as Kayleen, Uncle Raymond was like a father figure to many other children that came into his life. Sharing his knowledge of nature, hunting, fishing, trapping, and life.
Kayleen said that her Dad had a passion for fishing, it didn’t matter if it was winter or summer fishing. He didn’t even have to catch anything; he just wanted to be out there. Katie remembers Raymond giving her explicit instructions on how to properly clean a fish. He liked to share his fish with family, including Anne who didn’t usually go fishing. Raymond wanted Jessy to see what it was like to catch some “real” fish in the North, so he took him to Aunty Jeannie’s, where Douglas took them out on the float plane to go fishing.
Raymond was also a big hunter. He taught sister Katie how to make deer sausage. He often went to Ronnie’s place to pick acorns for the deer. Because of his hunting skills, he had a collection of antlers decorating his home.
He enjoyed the country life and always said to live off the land. Whether it was hunting, gardening, fishing, or cutting lumber with his sawmill. Raymond constructed many things for many people over the years. He made doghouses (some big enough for miniature horses), sheds, flower boxes, fish clubs, goblets, tables, stools, steps and wooded decorations for the yard. Uncle Raymond didn’t like beautiful wood wasted.
Raymond worked at the Port of Churchill for over 23 years. Ron, Mitchell, and Rachel will always remember the tour they got of the Port that was not available to the public. Mitchell was even allowed to pretend to steer the big ship that was in the harbour while they were there. He was very happy to see the other family members that came to see him in Churchill. After 23 seasons, Raymond disliked going back, because it meant he would miss another summer and not be able to see the garden and flowers growing.
Raymond enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews. Anelia remembers him strongly insisting on her getting up early before school to play cards and talk. Brenda says that Uncle Raymond was an excellent foreman and never made her work, because she never came count out very much. He enjoyed making huge bonfires and “burning” wieners and marshmallows with the family and friends.
Raymond enjoyed playing Cribbage with his Sifton friends at the Sifton Community Centre on Friday nights. He called Sam “brother” and Sam called him that as well. His friends were important to him, especially Fred. He loved his dog “Bailey” and took her everywhere. Raymond liked to listen to Ukrainian and Country and Western music. He loved watching his Wrestling heroes – Hulk Hogan, Rick Flare, Triple H., Chris Benoit, Shawn Michels, and Brett Hart. He was waiting for his nephew Bruce to move up to the W.W.F.
Raymond wanted to be in the Winnipegosis Hospital. He loved to be able to go out on the patio and be close to the river (and the fish). And he loved his Doctor Johnson. He would say, “I have to take some fish for Dr. Johnson, because he loves fish.” That was Uncle Raymond.
Raymond didn’t hesitate to make his feelings known. Uncle Raymond did mostly what Uncle Raymond wanted to do. If he was set on fishing, then that’s what was happening. If it was time to put the crab apples out for the deer, then that’s what he was doing. Once he even decided to hop on a train to Vancouver to visit his sisters Mary and Jeannie. Uncle Raymond loved flowers and the garden very much. He planted all kinds of vegetables, flowers and trees to make things beautiful. So when you garden, think of Raymond. Plant a flower, plant a tree, have a bonfire, or go fishing. He will be with you.
And don’t forget, Uncle Raymond had a certain standard. He liked to be dressed to the 9’s in a suit for an anniversary, funeral and weddings. And he often said “Jeannie, don’t forget your scissors, I need to get my hair cut.” He didn’t like good-bye’s, he would always say see you Friday.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Kayleen Karen and his grandson Anthony Raymond Cove. Kayleen’s mother, Caroline Simpson and her children Margaret, Florence, Loren, Dallas and Jessy. Raymond’s sisters, Anne Goy (Kimberley-Don Tarrant, Ron-Rachel Goy, Michael-Dawn Goy, Wendy-Darren Michaleski), Mary Boulette (Raymond Boulette, Brenda Boulette), Katie McLavy (Natasha-Rich Wieser, Bruce-Sally McLavy, Anelia McLavy), Veronica-Wayne Herman (Tammy-Ron Fidierchuk, Amanda Herman, Misty Herman), and Jeannie Dubray (Douglas). There are numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family, Brother Sam, friends and best friend Fred.

| Obituary: |
It is with extreme sadness we announce the sudden passing of Travis Edward Kaminski on Saturday, July 25, 2009. He will be sadly missed but always remembered by his parents, Martin and Michelle Kaminski, brother and best friend Tyler, love of his life Breda Lefort-Lynx, his Grandma, Phyllis Lunsted and husband Ken, and Grandpa Jim Cugnet, many Aunties, Uncles, extended family and friends.
Travis was a quite handsome young man born on December 30, 1981. Travis had grown up in a town where lots of family had lived. His older brother was his main playmate. They would fight like brothers do. But were inseparable and over the years looked out for each other. Travis enjoyed family trips, visiting relatives, going to other countries, almost any sport, golfing with his Dad, and beat rolls. Many knew him as the big tall guy, in baggy clothes, walking down the street bouncing a basketball. He attended E’cole McNeil in elementary, but was always known as a guy that kept to himself. Travis loved children and worked as a lifeguard for three years at the Aquatic Centre. Travis was a very hard worker and had many experiences with all kinds of employment. One of his jobs was setting up Best Buys stores and did end-up in Montreal where the French that he didn’t like to speak came in handy. Travis lived in Red Deer for 2 years working concrete. He moved back to Dauphin in spring of 2008 and that summer he met a beautiful woman named Breda. He was thrilled to find out that she already had 3 young kids of her own, Kendra, Kenneth and Kyra. Very quickly their loved blossomed and on May 5 a baby girl, Kianna Lee was born. Anyone that knew Travis, knew that he was a big kid at heart, strong as an ox but as gentle as a lamb. You will be greatly missed, love you lots Travis.
A viewing took place at Riverside on August 2 and a service at the United Church August 3. At Riverside we were honoured to have a special Metis drummer come and help Travis on his journey, by singing traditional songs. During your times of trial and suffering, when you saw only one set of footprints, it was then that the Lord carried you. To God death is not a tragedy. May you find peace.
A trust fund for those wishing to contribute has been set up at the R.B.C. for Travis’s baby Kianne in Michelle Kaminski’s name.
