| Obituary: |
As you look at Shelley's picture above, you see the face of an angel. You see an exceptional mother and a devoted wife.
With family and close friends by her side, Monday May 3rd, 2010 Shelley peacefully passed away at the Ste. Rose General Hospital.
Shelley was the first born child to Ron and Evelyn Oversby, followed by two sisters and one brother. Shelley was born at the Ste. Rose General Hospital April 14, 1973. Oh, how this family was blessed that day.
Shelley was a hard worker, very caring, nuturing individual. Often putting her own feelings and needs aside in order to help others in need first. Shelley's quick wit and sense of humor was second to none. Most people would be smiling as soon as they saw Shelley, as they knew a great laugh or a funny joke was coming their way. Passion for poetry, music and art is what gave Shelley the inspiration to become the most beautiful, unique woman that she was. Shell would re-write a poem to make it more meaningful, re- paint a part of a picture, or re-design a craft, and without a doubt it was always better when she got done with it. With Shelley's creativity, anything was possible.
Shelley's free spirit and strong will eventually lead her to Snow Lake, MB where she met the love of her life Craig Soper.
Shelley and Craig were married on September 22, 2001 in Makinak, MB. They decided to reside in Ochre River, MB close to family and friends. This is where their two children would be raised.
Shelley and Craig's first born son was Garrett Emmerson Craig Soper. Soon followed by their second son Emmett Culver Dean Soper. These two children were now her main focus and ultimate purpose for life. Shelley is so proud that the love of music and art has been instilled in both of her boys. Raising her children was priority, along with keeping their family safe. Shelley taught strength and importance of family, the power to believe in something, and courage to face life's challenges to her boys. All the while she was busy doing that, not realizing it, she was teaching her whole family the same thing. Shelley was so brave, and she loved so deeply.
Above all else Shelley proved to the world that her love for Craig and her family will be eternal. Shelley's strong will and free flying spirit will be instilled in every soul fortunate enough to meet her, forever. Shelley will be missed by her family and friends, memories will be cherished forever.
"Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall."
Shelley was pre-deceased by her Grandpa Frank Oversby, Poppa Lewis Blackshaw, Grandma Toots Blackshaw (Eleanor), Cousin Aaron Hannibal.
Shelley leaves to mourn her passing and many fond memories: her loving husband Craig Soper, two children Garrett and Emmett Soper, step-daughter Brianna, parents Ron and Evelyn Oversby, sister Leslie (Richard), sister Amanda (Duane), brother Jesse (Char-Lee), nieces and nephews Nicole, Breadan, Declan, Tyron and Elodie, father and mother-in-law Norman and Florence Soper, brother-in-law Glen Soper, brother-in-law Lee Soper and Kim Dunfield, their children Brett and Brody, and Nykkolas, Jaykyb, and Makayla, grandmother Ruth Oversby, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Memorial service was held on Friday, May 7, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. from the Ochre River Community Hall with the Reverend Larry McPhail officiating. All of Shelley’s family and friends were to consider themselves as Honorary Pallbearers.
Should friends so desire, donations in memory of Shelley may be made to a trust fund set up for her children Garrett and Emmett at the Dauphin Plains Credit Union, or to a charity of one’s choice.
