Obituary:
It is with sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Melanie on Sunday, May 16th at Crane River, Manitoba at the age of 19 years.

Melanie came into this world on April 18, 1991 and was raised by her maternal adoptive parents, Mary and Douglas Eastman and lived in Crane River for most of her life.

Melanie was enrolled in Donald Ahmo School from 1995-1997 and moved to Dauphin in September of 1997 and attended Whitmore School for 3 years. She then moved back to Crane River to complete her elementary school years. During her High School years, she attended Neelin High School in Brandon as well as Rorketon Collegiate Institute.

Melanie met George McDonald and they fell in love on December 18, 2007. It was on her dad’s birthday-October 29th, 2008 that we discovered that she was pregnant. Miraculously she gave birth to her daughter Aaliyah Melaney McDonald-Ranville on February 10, 2009. To everyone’s surprise, this was the shortest full term pregnancy that we’d ever seen. Melanie was unaware that she was already six months pregnant at the time she found out.

Everyone loved Melanie’s comical personality. She always had a way of making people smile and laugh even when times were tough.

Her dad always liked to pick an argument with her as soon as she came home to visit. Mel would always get riled up and her mom always told her “Don’t fall for it, Mel, don’t argue with your dad, he’s just doing it for nothing” and she would always reply “But that’s him there.”

No matter where her uncle Patrick would see her, he always called her “the Bologna Girl”. Christmas of 2007, everyone was taking home toys, tools, etc from Miranda and Patrick’s home, but Melanie was given a roll of bologna to take home and since there she has always been Patrick’s bologna girl.

Every time Melanie and her uncle Myles saw each other, they would wrestle right away. As she grew older, Myles was having a harder time to handle her. In spite of how skinny she was, she managed to throw him down on the floor a couple of weeks ago.

The family always got together for everyone’s birthday and holidays and everyone was expected to come or else it did not feel complete when someone was missing.

It is going to be very difficult for the family to celebrate the next birthday or holiday knowing that Mel’s physical presence won’t be there. But in our hearts, her spirit will always be with us.

Goodbye to our daughter, sister, granddaughter, aunt, niece, cousin, sister-in-law, companion, friend and most of all, mommy. May you rest in peace, Melanie.

“Don’t think of her as gone away
Her journey’s just begun, Life holds so many facets
This earth is only one,
Just think of her as resting from the sorrows and the tears
In a place of warmth and comfort
Where they are no days and years,
Think how she must be wishing, that we could know today
How nothing, but our sadness can really pass away
And think of her as living
In the hearts of those she touched,
For nothing loved is ever lost
And she was loved so much.

Prayer and Wake Services were held on Wednesday, May 19th beginning at 7:30 PM in the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Crane River, Manitoba. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, May 20th at 2:00 PM in the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Crane River. Fr. Norberto Monton celebrated the mass with the interment following in the Crane River Reserve Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Crystal Eastman-McDonald, Desiree Ranville, Cherylynn Eastman, Darcie Eastman, Kaitlin Ranville, Delanie Eastman, Rebecca Jarlock, and Edith Sutherland. All those who knew and loved Melanie were to consider themselves as honorary pallbearers.

Obituary:
It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Berthe Rath on December 18, 2009 at the age of 91 years with her family at her side.

We all strive to complete a perfect circle of life and Berthe has accomplished this. Her circle began with her birth on June 16, 1918 into a family of 15 children of parents who immigrated from France in 1904. She is survived by one sister Felicite Theoret and one brother Naїl Renault.

It is on a homestead in Valpoy and going to St. Patrick school that Berthe developed a strength of character whose life knew no boundaries too big, no problem too small and no person too insignificant.
Whether beating breast cancer 34 years ago or loosing family members, her beloved husband Henry (April 22, 1979) and her son Marc (Dec. 3, 2001).

Berthe always had a positive and truly inspirational life outlook. She was a role model to her 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren who have inherited a legacy of her traits, her talents and her passions. Even up until her last moments of life her spirit shone through.
With heavy hearts her daughters Lois (Klimchuk) and Fern and husband Henri Masson mourn the loss of one of the most strong willed, creative and classy ladies we know.

We will wipe away our tears and tell stories of how she touched our hearts – the tears will be replaced with smiles and our sorrow replaced with joy.

Funeral Services for Berthe were held on Monday, December 21, 2009 at the Ste. Rose de Lima Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Vincent de Paul Tchaoule officiating. Interment will follow in the Ste. Rose Cemetery in the spring.

Should friends so desire donations in memory of Berthe may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba.

Rewniak Bill
Date of birth:  August 26, 1918
Died:  June 14, 2010
Send Condolence
Prayers:  June 20, 2010,7:00 p.m. ,Sneath Strilchuk Chapel, Main Street, Dauphin MB
Funeral:  June 21, 2010, 11:00 a.m., New Life Centre, Dauphin, MB
Obituary:
It is with great sadness that the family of William “Bill” Rewniak announce his passing on June 14, 2010, in Dauphin, Manitoba at St. Paul’s Home.
Bill was born on August 26, 1918 in Ukraina, Manitoba to Dmytro and Anna Rewniak.
Bill started in the General Store business, with his father and younger brother, Metro at Ukraina, on December 11, 1941. He and his brother Metro served in World War II. After being discharged from the army in 1945 Bill came back and ran the business with his Dad. In 1950 he carried on the family business when his father passed away.
His mother passed away in 1954 and he was left alone to run the business and do a little farming, besides. He married Olga Rebec of Sifton on May 19, 1962 and together they took on the reins of running the business of a General Store and Post Office. Bill was elected Postmaster at Ukraina in 1959. The post office closed in 1970.
Bill and Olga and their children decided to move to greener pastures. They sold their business and quarter section of land in Ukraina. They moved to Ethelbert where they had purchased John Borkowski’s Corner Store. In August 1970 they took over the business of the corner store and managed it until 1975.
Then in October 1975, they purchased Maksymetz’s Solo Store and closed the corner store.
Bill and Olga had two children, Robert and Theresa.
Bill loved watching his favorite game shows, Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune. He liked to travel, and would love to take long walks. He found scripture comforting and was dedicated to his church. He always put others first, and never had an unkind word to say. He was especially a kind, gentle, and considerate man that will be missed by all.
Bill’s love of singing was what got him involved in the Ukrainian Festival Choir. He also volunteered at the “Ukraina Post Office” at the Heritage Site at the Ukrainian Festival. Some of the shelving and equipment was from his families original post office in Ukraina.
Left to cherish fond memories are his wife Olga of 48 years; 2 children Robert Rewniak of Ethelbert, Manitoba and Theresa and Rick of Brandon, Manitoba; 2 grand children Kaden and Karley; 1 brother Metro Rewniak of Selkirk, Manitoba; 2 sisters Rosie Poirier of Winnipeg, Manitoba and Olga Finigan of Surrey, British Columbia. There are numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He will be missed by his loving family and the entire community.
Bill was predeceased by his parents Dmytro in 1950 and Anna in 1954. He was also predeceased by his brothers John, Mike, and Nick and their spouses, as well as sisters Mary, Nellie, Lily, Betty, and Lena and their spouses.
In lieu of flowers if friends so desire, donations in memory of Bill may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Funeral service for Bill was held on Monday, June 21, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from the New Life Centre in Dauphin with Pastor Mark Johnston officiating. Interment followed in the Ukraina Cemetery in Ukraina, Manitoba. Prayers were held on Sunday, June 20, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. from the Sneath Strilchuk Funeral Chapel in Dauphin. Pallbearers were Ed Kostyshyn, Ron Kostyshyn, Michael Plesiuk, Victor Rewniak, Andy Nakonechny, and Ray Rebec.
Thanks to the staff at St. Paul’s Care Home, for the care they provided and for making his final days peaceful.
Dad, you were the best father that any child could ever hope for. You always put our needs ahead of your own. We owe what we are today by your loving example and for that we are truly grateful. We love you and God bless you until we meet again, your loving wife Olga, son Robert, and daughter Theresa, son-in-law Rick and grandchildren Kaden and Karley.
