Obituary:
It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of a beloved husband, father and grandfather, Rene Vandepoele on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at the age of 67 years.
Rene was predeceased by his parents Antoine and Helene Vandepoele and an infant brother Achille.
He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish many wonderful memories; his beloved wife of 47 years Rolande, his 5 children Suzanne, Neil and wife Bonnie, Mark and wife Pam, Cheryl and husband Andre Luke, and Amanda and husband Bill Burnett, along with 9 grandchildren Alyssa, Haley, Kristy, Jesse, Kieran, Kyle, Alex, Brodey, Mathew and numerous foster children, 2 brothers Joe and wife Marie and Louis and wife Yvette, as well as numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and extended family members and many friends.
Rene was born on May 18, 1943 in Ste. Rose du Lac, and raised on the family farm in Ste. Amelie that he took over following the death of his father. Rene was a quiet man well known for his ready smile, his love of laughter and his community service. Rene was a proud member of the Ste. Rose Knights of Columbus Council # 5105, having served at one time as the council’s Grand Knight.
Prayers for Rene were offered on Friday, May 28 at 7:30 PM in the Ste. Rose de Lima Roman Catholic Church, led by Gisele L’Heureux and Simone Worrall. The rosary was recited by the Knights of Columbus Council # 5105.
Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the Ste. Rose de Lima Roman Catholic Church. Fr. Vincent de Paul Tchaoule celebrated the mass. A private interment followed in the Ste. Rose Cemetery. Adele Murray and the Ste. Rose de Lima Church Choirs offered beautiful music throughout the mass.
Urn bearers were Rene’s grandchildren, Kieran Luke and Haley Vandepoele. All of Rene’s grandchildren were to consider themselves as honorary urn bearers. Rene’s fellow Knights of Columbus formed the honour guard.
Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made in memory of Rene to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Dauphin Chapter, Box 392, Dauphin, R7N 2V2, to the Ste. Rose Knights of Columbus Council # 5105, or to a charity of one’s choice.
Rolande and her family would like to thank those involved in the beautiful service, Fr. Vincent de Paul Tchaoule, Adele Murray, Ron Flower and the choir for the beautiful music and singing us through such a difficult time, Gisele L’Heureux and Simone Worrall for leading the prayer service, Rene’s fellow Knights for leading the rosary and forming the honour guard, Rene would have been very proud, Doug Ives for the beautiful eulogy, the readers Natalie Kristjanson and Henry Lecomte, the altar servers Kyle Luke, Montana and Erika Bryce and the ladies of the Ste. Rose de Lima Rainy Day Club for serving a beautiful lunch afterward, and to Ryan Raffray of Sneath-Strilchuk Funeral Services, Ste. Rose Chapel for his assistance in planning the arrangements, and to all of our friends and family, your kindness and the compassion and caring shown to our family will never be forgotten.

Obituary:
Annette passed away in the kindly care of the nursing staff of the Dr. Gendreau Personal Care Home in Ste. Rose du Lac on Monday, March 1, 2010 at the age of 100 years.

She was predeceased by her husband Paul in 1941, her son Gerald in 1996.

Annette leaves to mourn her passing; her son Jean (Lisette Charruau), her daughter in law Rita Fontaine and her grandsons Christian and Eric, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many friends in the Ste. Rose Community where she was well known and loved.

Annette resided in Ste. Rose for most of her life, being a member of one of the founding families of the community.

Many thanks to the staff of the Dr. Gendreau Home for their care in the past 3 years as well to her nieces and nephews in the Ste. Rose area who graciously looked into her well being over the years.

Funeral Mass was held on Friday, March 5, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. from the Ste. Rose de Lima Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Vincent de Paul Tchaoule officiating. Mrs. Evelyn Taylor served as organist, accompanying the Ste. Rose de Lima Roman Catholic Church Choir. Interment followed in the Ste. Rose Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Annette to the Dr. Gendreau Memorial Personal Care Home, Box 420, Ste. Rose du Lac, Manitoba, R0L 1S0.
